Milestone games 2026

Liam Durkin - 200 games

HIS has certainly been a unique journey.  Liam Durkin plays his 200th game for Moe this week.

Durks has played close to 15 seasons for the club, and experienced just about the full gamut of reserves football. He has played in strong teams, average teams, and barely teams, which reflects a career record of more than 100 wins but also 25 games where the losing margin has been a minimum 90 points.

The left footer has played in four finals series, and in every type of final except a grand final.   Playing mainly on a wing or across half-forward, the 31-year-old has kicked more than 150 goals, with a personal best of nine. He managed to kick goal of the year in 2019, with a four bounce running effort at Ted Summerton Reserve that attracted more than 20,000 views online.

A diligent trainer, he has only missed two games since debuting in 2013, and at one stage enjoyed a run of 109 consecutive games. He was awarded the Ian Jennings Memorial trophy in 2017, presented annually to the Moe player who displays excellence on and off field.  The unique part of his career is multifaceted. Durks is the Moe reserves games record holder, and played a likely league record of 184 games before finally playing in a winning final last year.

His career as a journalist also puts him in an extremely unique position, dealing with clubs he plays against, and also (perhaps even more challenging) players he plays with. Ordinarily, he will play in the twos, and then get the notepad and camera out to cover the second half of the seniors. Off field, he has been a natural fit to write the club notes for the record, which he has done so for more than 10 years, and to keep the club’s history books up to date.  He also produces his own podcast, and has had stints on local radio. Moe footballers and netballers have often featured in his published works.

Juzzi Morrow - 100 games

A SURNAME synonymous with the Moe Football-Netball Club adds another footnote to its history books this week, with Justin Morrow set to play his 100th game. Known to all as Juzzi (or Justice or Juz-man), the midfielder/forward is one of the most recognisable and energetic personalities around the club.

Opportunistic around goal, he is perhaps the greatest personification of the phrase: “when he’s on, he’s on”. Juzzi has enjoyed some of the most outstanding purple patches, at times seemingly having the ball on a string for minutes on end.

Examples include a five-goal haul in his first senior game for the season last year, and another four goal effort that is still remembered as ‘Morrow’s Match’.

His personal best is six goals.

A past club captain, he is one to drive standards on game day and on the training track. His journey to 100 games has also been determined, as he has battled concussion at times.  A chippy turned sparkie by trade, he is often seen igniting celebrations following a win (“Get some tunes pumping”).

Juzzi has played in multiple finals series, and also had the thrill of playing alongside his brothers, Sam and Tyler, and cousins Ben and Trent. Cousins Lachlan and Matt have also played for the club, as have uncles Brett and Darren, while aunty Karen is a life member.

All up, the Morrows have combined for more than 700 games in the maroon and blue.

DECLAN KEILTY played his 100th senior game for Moe at Sale Round 9.One of the best intercept defenders in the competition, Keilty has been a standout performer for the Lions. His career has essentially had four iterations: Gippsland Power/Moe, VFL/AFL, Moe playing-coach and now Moe senior leader. Declan played a number of senior games for Moe as a youngster when available from Gippsland Power, before grinding out a lengthy career in VFL years. He was taken in the 2016 rookie draft by Melbourne, and went on to play at the highest level. Returning to Moe in 2021, he won the senior best-and-fairest that year, and then took the reigns as senior coach. Moe made two preliminary finals in his three years as coach. His on-field performances have been exceptional, especially in desperation defence. A goal-saving tackle in the 2023 semi-final is still spoken about as one of the greatest individual acts ever seen. Declan’s consistency won him a place in the club’s most recent team of the decade, and he was named in the league’s team of the year every season from 2022 to 2024. Off the field, he has been a leading light in many aspects. He now dedicates his time to helping the next crop of players, assisting with the under 18s. Most tellingly, he has been the recipient of three of the last four Ian Jennings Memorials, awarded to the player who displays the most excellence on and off field.

JACOB Wood joined a very exclusive club on June 20th 2026. The veteran played senior game number 250 for Moe. Only three men have reached this milestone in the club’s history (Peter Ainsworth, Chris Smogavec and Reno Fusinato). The Wood Duck has been a durable inside midfielder across more than 15 seasons. Ever the professional, he has rarely missed a game, and is usually found putting his body on the line either between the arcs or inside 50.Wood has played in six finals series for virtually a season of games in finals (15).  He was senior captain for six seasons from 2019 to 2024.Achievements include two-time selection in the Gippsland League Team of the Year, and two Moe Football-Netball Club teams of the decade. In more recent seasons, he has played as a high-pressure forward, and found a knack for kicking goals out of congestion. A fan-favourite due to his ferocious attack on the ball, the man known as 'Frank' will perhaps best be remembered for taking possibly the greatest mark ever seen at Ted Summerton Reserve. In a game against Drouin in 2021, Wood propelled himself from a long way back, jumped onto the shoulders of an opponent, and plucked the ball one-handed while flying sideways in mid-air. Moe FNC has been a part of life for the Woods, with Jacob’s wife Carly also a 200 game netballer and life member.  Both have remained extremely loyal throughout the highs and lows of sport, and contributed greatly to the life and times of the club.   That contribution continues today, with the pair currently running Moe's Auskick centre.

This Diet Coke has been well-earned.  Aaron Wilson played his 100th game for Moe Round 10 20th June 2026. The midfielder has been a mark of consistency, winning four club best-and-fairest (2018, 2021, 2024, 2025) and the reserves league medal last season. In and around these seasons, he also coached the reserves for four years (which as anyone who knows local footy will attest to, is a very long time) and is the team’s current co-captain.

A high possession winner, Az is a fiercely competitive player whose passion is unquestioned. As a youngster, he was a senior starter, before an unfortunate run of injury left him on the side-lines for a combined total of three years.

He has shown great resilience to return from each setback, and his loyalty saw him play in his first finals series for Moe last year. Elsewhere, he has played in a premiership for Newborough, and won another league medal - the Mid Gippsland reserves in 2016.

Remarkably, that accolade came just a year after he’d missed the entire previous season, and while he was just playing on the weekends during final year uni.   An engineer by profession and methodical trainer who specialises in long distance runs/rides, he has combined his high HQ and strong work rate to great effect on the football field.
